Have you ever been in this common scary situation with your pet?

I was called in to help with a not so uncommon scary situation this week.

Atticus, a 5-year-old cockapoo, would not eat. Atticus' mom was very concerned. Normally a good eater, he refused his usual breakfast. He just sniffed and walked away.

I know I've been there before. That moment when you notice the food that your adored pet usually wolfs down is still sitting in the bowl. Red flags go up and you get that sinking feeling in your stomach that something could be seriously wrong.

Often times, in similar situations, the person answering the phone at the vet's office asks if there could be anything the animal could have "gotten into?" The usual directive is to "watch and wait" to see if any other symptoms, like vomiting or diarrhea occur; and if the animal continues to not eat to bring them in. In a situation like this, it can be scary and frustrating to not know what's going on with your furry family member, and for their optimal health and care, truly understanding the situation can be vitally important.

"I ate something I shouldn't have," Atticus told me. I immediately had a mental image of something dark. I focused on seeing, in my mind's eye, what this thing was. As the picture sharpened, it became clearer to me that this was dirt. Was there more in the dirt? I kept focusing and I saw a small dark rock.

I was thankful to have the ability to hear from Atticus what had happened.

Is this feeling like it's stuck somewhere in your (digestive tract), I asked Atticus?

"No. I feel I will pass it," Atticus told me.As you can imagine, Atticus' mom was extremely relieved!

In addition to providing this information, I was able to support Atticus' system with energy work and essential oils.

And luckily, in less than 24 hours, Atticus was eating and acting like his old self again.
