After showing me that she had a difficult start in life (and eventually being taken in by
Greater Dayton Labrador Retriever Rescue), Ruby was adopted by her
human, Kim and her family. Ruby told me that she is so grateful to live
in a comfortable home where she is well-cared for. Ruby gushed, "this is
the best place I've ever lived!" It touched me to hear her repeating
how thankful she is for the family that adopted her. 
Ruby also gives back. She is a certified pet therapy dog with Creature Comfort Pet Therapy in Morristown, NJ, where she feels that she is doing her, "life's work," often making visits to the local hospital. Ruby specifically mentions an elderly man who she feels she really helps through her healing presence. Ruby says that the family who adopted her made it happen.
Ruby served as an inspiration for me. Her appreciation for all that she has was a reminder of how important it is to be mindful of giving thanks. Ruby's gratitude lifted my spirits and in that, I was reminded of how my attitude can affect others, as she did mine.
