Power of Silence

Animals are masters of silence.

While of course you may disagree if you have a dog with a barking issue, animals are amazingly adept at being silent “for” us. They will often remain close while we go through our “stuff.” Most of us animal lovers can attest that being in their presence provides a comfort like nothing else. And many can also relate to being with a human who, although well-intentioned, actually may make matters worse with their attempts to provide help through talking. We've all likely been that human. I know I have.

I spoke with my master teacher animal family members about the power of silence:

TirNa: Sometimes I'm sort of laughing to myself. It's because I'm just waiting for you to settle down. It's funny how you do things. Animals teach humans to learn to sit and be silent for another person or animal.

Gracie: I sit with anyone who is sad and say nothing. It's my presence that matters most. I hold the space.

Cheyenne: It's the spaces in-between. We wait while humans are sad or anxious. That's when the healing and movement happens. This doesn't happen if you are talking too much.

This “space” or “silence” is also where we hear what the animals do have to say. If our brains are over-active it doesn't allow for this. Animals have actually taught me to train my brain to slow down. I had to do this in order to grow in my animal communication abilities. It was so important to me to be able to hear the animals clearly that I made it one of my top priorities. There are times when it takes more focus to get to that “slowed-down” state than others. However, practices like prayer and meditation can provide a huge benefit to getting to the same level as the animals so that we can hear them.

Don't we owe it to the animals to give back by taking the time to learn to listen to them?

Featured Essential Oil Of The Week – Frankincense (Boswellia carterii)!

One of my favorite oils for grounding before animal communication
Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) includes the naturally occurring constituent boswellic acid, and has a woodsy, warm, balsamic aroma. Diffuse Frankincense during meditation for grounding and purpose. Applying this oil topically may help smooth the appearance of healthy-looking skin, and is excellent to use for massage after activity.- Young Living Oils website
