The Animals Talk About Michael Vick

I have never cared about football. The only consideration I ever gave to it was as a small child when I aspired to become a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. However, since in high school identity lines needed to be drawn, I rejected a slot on the high school cheering squad having determined that I was more of an Amnesty International kind of girl. My little girl dream was put to death by my older self a long time ago.

However, my interest in football has, in a way, resurfaced. Being involved in the animal rescue community in New Jersey I hear a great deal of anger expressed about the fact that football player Michael Vick, infamously known for his abuse of dogs (as well as other animals), was recently hired to play for the New York Jets.

I am a professional animal communicator with over 6 years of experience teaching others about listening to the animals. Therefore, I feel that I would best serve them by asking the animals what they think about the Michael Vick situation.

Here is what my 8 month old puppy, Cheyenne, as well as my cat, TirNa, had to say about this:

Anne: I had to start out by explaining to Cheyenne and TirNa what exactly football is:

Cheyenne: Football sounds fun! (gotta love her)

Anne: As I explained to them using thought pictures what Michael Vick did to the animals I begin to become somewhat emotional.

Cheyenne: Don’t be sad. Would he hurt me?

Anne: No, he can’t ever hurt you.

Cheyenne: I’m not really worried about it, then. I’m enjoying life here (shows me her toys).

TirNa: Laughs. Why do you worry (directed at me)? Here today, gone tomorrow. The animal kingdom resides ‘here.’ We don’t carry on and on.

Anne: I understand but I am just curious if  you have any opinion about this person getting hired (I have shown them how money works in exchange for things like food and how this person gets LOTS of money for what he does).

TirNa: It’s not fair (that he hurt animals) but I don’t worry about it. I stay at peace

Anne: As humans sometimes we  have to put our energy into these things, otherwise they can happen again and again.  We have to protect you.

TirNa: If something happens, it happens.

Anne: Oh come on, so we’re just supposed to let bad things happen to animals?

TirNa: No. Just don’t get so worked up about it.

Anne: So what would you tell humans to do?

TirNa: Spread peace.

Cheyenne: I trust you. Do what you think you should do.
